Short answer: When shipping Pilates reformers overseas, most commercial models go in one large export carton, and some need two. A typical reformer carton in our range is around 0.8 to 1.4 CBM and 100 to 160 kg gross, while mega reformers can reach about 265 kg. Sea freight usually takes around 25–45 days and air freight 7–15 days, depending on destination. Before ordering, check the packing size and gross weight on the product page, confirm your delivery access, and plan for a tail-lift truck and at least two people at delivery.
Buyers ask us about price, then about lead time, and then, usually a week before the container lands, about delivery: “How big are the boxes? Will they fit in the lift? How many people do we need?”
It’s much better to ask those questions before ordering. This article covers what our packing team does, the real sizes and weights involved, and what you should check at your end.
How big and heavy is a packed reformer?
Here are real packing figures from our product pages. Use them as a guide. Check your exact model before booking freight.
| Model | Type | Packing size | Volume | Gross weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CP201 | Folding aluminum reformer | Plywood case 1360 × 740 × 600 mm | 0.6 CBM | 100 kg (77 kg net) |
| CP108 | Aluminum reformer, sliding footbar | 2440 × 640 × 520 mm | 0.81 CBM | 118 kg |
| CP102 | Aluminum reformer, sliding footbar | 2600 × 740 × 500 mm | 0.96 CBM | 103 kg |
| CP167 | Maple reformer | 245 × 66 × 51 cm | approx. 0.82 CBM (calculated) | 136 kg |
| CP125 | Aluminum full-track reformer | 247 × 84 × 62 cm | approx. 1.29 CBM (calculated) | 120 kg |
| CP310 | Aluminum reformer + half tower | 2650 × 770 × 570 mm | 1.16 CBM | 160 kg |
| CP321 | Maple full tower reformer | 2400 × 760 × 760 mm | 1.39 CBM | 192 kg |
| CP118 | Steel mega reformer | 1900 × 930 × 600 mm | approx. 1.06 CBM (calculated) | 265 kg |
The CP108 and CP125 are wider machines overall (92 cm and 82 cm) because of their wide foot bar design. The carriage and frame are standard width.
| CP110 | Steel mega reformer | 1800 × 900 × 430 mm × 2 | 1.4 CBM | 253 kg |

A few things stand out:
- Length is the issue, not just weight. Most reformer cartons are about 2.4 to 2.65 m long. That’s longer than many passenger lifts are deep.
- Some machines ship in two cartons. Several of our mega reformers ship in two packages, which makes handling easier.
- Towers add volume. A reformer with a tower packs bigger than the same base without one.
How we pack a reformer
Our packing goal is simple: the machine should arrive looking the way it left our factory, after a truck to the port, a crane, weeks at sea and another truck.

Shipping marks and labels
Every carton gets shipping marks with your details and the carton number, so your warehouse can match cartons to the packing list. If you need your own brand on the outer carton, that’s part of our packaging customization.
Wooden cases for some models
Some models ship partly in a wooden case. Our CP221 folding aluminum reformer, for example, ships with a wooden case of 1360 × 740 × 620 mm plus a flat carton. Our wooden cases are not heat-treated, so they don’t carry an ISPM 15 mark. If your country requires ISPM 15 wood packaging, raise it when you ask for a quote so we can discuss the packing before production.
Shipping Pilates reformers: sea or air?
Sea freight is the normal choice for anything beyond one or two units. It usually takes 25–45 days to reach the destination port, depending on where you are.
Air freight takes around 7–15 days and costs much more per kilogram. It makes sense for a single urgent sample or a replacement unit. With reformers at 120–160 kg gross, air gets expensive fast.
Planning a container
For larger orders, you’ll be thinking about containers. Freight is charged on volume and weight, so packing figures matter.
Mixing products
A mixed container is normal. Reformers take the long space. Chairs, barrels and smaller items fill the gaps. For example, our CP501 oak stability chair packs into 0.46 CBM at 43.5 kg gross, and the CP364 maple core ladder into 0.52 CBM at 90 kg.
How many units fit?
This depends on the models, how cartons are stacked, and whether the container is a 20-foot or 40-foot high cube. We plan the loading for each order rather than giving one number for all.
As a typical loading for single models: about 24 CP101 aluminum reformers in a 20GP and 60 in a 40HQ, or about 36 CP201 folding reformers in a 20GP and 100 in a 40HQ. Our classic wooden reformers CP151 and CP152 load at about 24 units in a 20GP and 60 in a 40HQ. Crates are stacked up to 4 layers high, no more.
Your shipping term decides who handles what
We offer EXW, FOB, CFR, CIF and DDP.
- DDP: we arrange everything to your address, including import duties and taxes
- CIF: we pay sea freight and cargo insurance to your port, and you handle import and delivery
- CFR: we pay sea freight to your port, and you handle insurance, import and delivery
- FOB: we load the goods on your forwarder’s ship in China, and the rest is yours
- EXW: your forwarder collects from our factory and handles everything from there

Before delivery: check your access
This is the step that goes wrong most often. Before the truck arrives:
- Measure the route. Doors, corridors, stairs and lifts. A carton of about 2.6 m needs a straight path or a large lift.
- Ask for a tail-lift truck. Cartons weighing 120 to 260 kg can’t be lifted off a truck by hand safely.
- Have two or more people ready. More for mega reformers.
- Decide where to unpack. Ideally in the room where the machine will stand.
- Plan for packaging waste. Large cartons and wood take space.
If access is very tight, ask us before ordering. Sometimes a model that ships in two cartons or a folding reformer is the better choice for that building.
At delivery: check before you sign
When the cartons arrive:
- Count the cartons against the packing list
- Look for visible damage on the outside: crushed corners, holes, water marks
- If you see damage, note it on the delivery receipt before signing, and take photos
- Unpack as soon as you can and check the machine and accessories
If something arrives damaged
It’s rare, but heavy goods do get damaged in transit sometimes. If it happens:
- Take photos and video of the carton and the damage straight away
- Keep the packaging
- Contact us with your order number and the photos
Our FAQ says that if there is a manufacturing defect or damage during shipping, we work with you to resolve it under our warranty policy. Send us three photos: the outer carton, the damaged product, and the shipping label. Keep all the packaging and don’t use damaged equipment. Report damage as soon as you find it, ideally when the goods arrive. The sooner we know, the sooner we can sort it out.
Assembly after unpacking
We provide installation videos and instruction manuals for our machines. Send us your model number and we’ll share the right video. A standard reformer arrives mostly assembled. On tower models, you fit the half-tower frame, the push-through bar and the springs yourself, along with a few smaller parts. The video for your model shows each step.
Frequently asked questions
How big is a Pilates reformer box?
In our range, most reformer cartons are about 2.4 to 2.65 m long, 0.64 to 0.84 m wide and 0.5 to 0.76 m high. Check the product page for your exact model.
